A tale of a spelling mistake…

Recently I noticed that a client had a spelling mistake on one of their pages, a news story about a restaurant they had designed calledDans Le Noir in London. However in the article it was spelt “Dans La Noir”. I corrected this mistake on the 19th January 2006, and noticed from the logs that the few hits we were getting on the mis-spelling soon stopped yet it wasn’t until today that Google finally picked up the correction, so that’s what… 6 weeks to get a mis-spelling updated! Of course I could have reduced this time by adding some links with the correct anchor text pointing to the page but it isn’t a keyphrase we’re actively targeting, just one of those phrases that seems to bring in a fair number of hits.
The moral of the story? Check your spelling!!
