Google’s Bar Code logo

Today’s Google Doodle on the Google home page is a barcode, which when converted into English reads “Google” of course. The doodle is in honour of US Patent 2,612,994 which was issued on the 7th October 1952 for “Classifying Apparatus and Method”, in which Joseph Woodland and Bernard Silver described both the linear and bullseye printing patterns, as well as the mechanical and electronic systems needed to read the code.

We also forgot to mention the Google Doodle for Gandhi’s birthday on the 2nd October.
